(MIAMI, Sept. 20, 2013) – During the height of the hurricane season in South Florida and in support of National Preparedness Month, children from South Dade Middle School and Richmond Heights Middle School will partner with Target team members and Miami-Dade Emergency managers at Miami-Dade County's Emergency Operations Center, 9300 NW 41st St. in Miami, to develop individualized home disaster plans. The event begins at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013.
Students will identify area hazards, conduct a personal risk analysis, draw up a schematic of their home identifying its safe room, and participate in a tour on fire safety from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Office of Public Education's staff.
